Cyber Security for your Email
08 May 2025

Most conversations about the hot topic of Cyber Security centre on file data protection – but what of securing your email traffic, has that been forgotten about?
In fact, email is less discussed because security controls have been in place for some years for mail traffic. The lack of conversation is not just because it’s well-established though, it’s a complex process to set up and secure in the optimum way, which puts many off attempting it, leaving a crucial system within every business at risk of inviting malicious activity.
That can include spoofing (email that claims to be from your system but is not), phishing (emails that invite users to click on links or open attachments, again purporting to be from your own company) and email compromise (where a hacker gains access to your email).
The tools we have to defend against these types of attacks include SPF, DKIM and DMARC – you can start to see why many do not engage with this topic. However, business owners don’t need to – they should only need to instruct their IT provider to ‘make it so’. At Armstrong Bell, we pro-actively do exactly that, so all our clients need to hear is that the job is done, and their email secured.
If you are experiencing the above issues, or simply want to mitigate against them happening, please get in touch on 01527 834850 or via info@armstrongbell.co.uk
